Well done to our two bursary winners - Melissa Edwards and Rebecca Wilhelm who have both won a bursary towards their study with us.
Rebecca , from Hitchin in Hertforshire, a media relations and communication executive with The Food and Drink Federation, wins a bursary towards her studies for the CIPR Diploma. Melissa from West Dulwich in South London, an information assistant with Chelsea College of Art and Design, has won the bursary for the Advanced Certificate.
Rebecca and Melissa are really deserving of this award, both put forward a very strong case and clearly believe in the value of professional qualifications. We are looking forward to welcoming them on one of our courses and seeing their PR careers take off as a result!
Rebecca told us she thinks that studying for a professional qualification will provide an invaluable opportunity to learn alongside other professionals, and to challenge accepted ways of doing things. She says that without a bursary she would have struggled to pursue a professional qualification at this stage in her career.
Melissa is also clearly a firm believer in qualifications and their place in increasing the status of PR. Both will be starting their studies with us in January 2010.
This is the second year of the PR Academy bursary scheme. We believe in the benefit of qualifications, not only to the profession, but to individuals. Not everyone has access to funding for study and we dont want this to be a barrier for someone who really wanted to get on in the profession – hence the bursary scheme.
What do you think about the importance of professional qualifications in PR - let us know your thoughts .....
