The British Council has made available online some short movies produced back in the 1940s. They were designed to show the positive side of British life at a time when facism was spreading across Europe.
They seem harmless enough and quite endearing. They are being branded 'propaganda' and probably rightly so, but it struck me that it is a tactic that could just as easily be used today, maybe not to promote a particular political way of life, but to promote other things and would probably be initiated by the PR team. So, how far removed from propaganda is PR?
