Why PR and Procurement should be best of friends

I was at a PR conference recently where I heard a senior UK PR academic express concerns about the involvement of procurement in the commissioning of PR and communication services within government.  I was a bit shocked by this - especially as there had just  been mention of a multi million central government communication campaign - as tax payers, would we seriously want that happening without the involvement of procurement professionals?

It got me thinking how PR and procurement face similar the challenges in terms of earning our place as strategic advisors to the business
