What did 2012 tell us about communications and learning?

What did 2012 tell us about communications and learning?

I know we should be looking ahead into 2013, but we still have the tree up here in the office, so am feeling in reflective mood....

Twenty-twelve was an exciting year for us. We published the second edition of Exploring Internal Communication, launched a new qualification in measurement with AMEC,  re-launched our website and lots more besides.

We worked with around 500 practitioners studying for qualifications across a range of topics: PR, internal communication, public affairs, digital communication and measurement.   Our students have come from 20 different countries which suggests to us that UK qualifications are seen as credible across the world, but also that flexible methods of delivery are bringing them to more people.

Interest in internal communication qualifications continues to grow - this year saw the launch of the first Masters programme in the topic which is a great next step from the popular CIPR Internal Communication Diploma.

The interest in the brand new AMEC qualification in measurement shows that this is a topic of increasing importance to practitioners - we have to be able to prove the value of what we do beyond a collection of press cuttings.

Our annual trend survey will be out soon - this looks at what you want from qualifications and training. While we have yet to analyse the results, my feeling is that measurement, management and leadership will be high on the list. Look out for the results coming out soon.

Meanwhile, best wishes for 2013!
