This practical short course accredited by the University of Chester (UoC), will provide you with the business and management skills you need in order to become an inspirational and influential leader. The course is a 20 credit module (one third) of the Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Communication delivered by us and accredited by the University of Chester, for more information see “related courses” below.

Gain an introduction to the core principles of business strategy and financial management. Take a more strategic communications approach using research. Know how to distinguish between preferred strategies and the right strategies. Become a confident influencer.

This course, which is taught online and via a one-day workshop. Complete this course successfully and you will receive credits towards the UoC Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Communication.

The course lasts about four months and is taught online with a one day workshop. It is assessed through a final work-based assignment that identifies a range of potential global issues and discusses them in relation to a specific organisational and includes how they can be addressed through communication leadership and management.

The PR Academy tuition fee is £1194 (including VAT). In addition, the University of Chester will invoice you for their awarding body fee:

  • UK and EU based - £340 (no VAT)
  • International - £730 (no VAT)

Once you have applied and been accepted by the University of Chester you will have access to all their student resources.

Marking and feedback on your assignment.

If you study online there is lots of tutor support. There are live webinars run by experienced tutor/practitioners with the opportunity for lots of interaction, which are also recorded for later playback. There are regular, lively online discussions about contemporary practice. Our online learning centre makes virtual networking with other practitioners possible too. Unlike lots of online learning your tutor is with you all the way – you aren’t left on your own to work through lots of static content. Your tutor will be keeping in touch and encouraging you all the way.

Right for you?

This course is right for you if you are a mid- to senior-level manager or head of function, or are moving up to such a role, you have responsibility for a team and want to ensure that you get the best from them or you want a better understanding of yourself as a leader. You may need to influence others who are perhaps more senior than yourself. You want to grow in confidence as a leader.

You can study the course if you have one year’s relevant fulltime employment in a public relations or marketing discipline.

Those whose first language is not English must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the language spoken and written to an International English Language Testing System (IELTS) band score of 6.5 or equivalent.

Complete all three courses successfully and you will achieve the full 60 credits needed for the award of Postgraduate Certificate in Corporate Communication from the University of Chester.
