Simply going through the online course content helped to give me the confidence to apply for a new role as an External Communications and Campaigns Officer when an opportunity came up.

I decided to sign up for the CIPR Certificate when I was working in a junior role in a Press Office. I was really interested in taking the next step in my career but I felt there was big leap to be made, to go from a Communications and Engagement Assistant to a Press Officer in a team largely made up of ex-journalists. I was lucky enough to have the course funded by my team and I would definitely encourage anyone considering applying to see if this is possible through their employer.

Starting the PR certificate gave me the boost I needed to learn more about the theory, ethics and best practices behind PR planning, delivery and evaluation. Simply going through the online course content helped to give me the confidence to apply for a new role as an External Communications and Campaigns Officer when an opportunity came up.

It took me the full two years to complete my assignments as I was focusing on my new role, but once I finally came around to submitting them I found it really helpful to speak to my PR Academy tutor, Maud, about the expectations for the assignment. The proposal submission system was useful for getting feedback ahead of submissions. Maud often responded very quickly, which was extremely helpful.

Learning with PR Academy has helped improve my confidence, skills and knowledge. If I wanted to do another qualification in PR, I’d return to PR Academy because they were so responsive and knowledgeable. The resources provided on their learning hub were extensive and I felt I learnt a huge deal from the course.

The qualification has helped me in my career by providing me with an in-depth knowledge of the PR field, particularly the ethics of working in communications for an organisation.
