Building your business case

Technical skills are important but practitioners are increasingly dealing with complex or unusual scenarios and for that you need to be thinking and acting more strategically.

A professional qualification can boost your career and your confidence, but it also has big benefits for your employer. Here are some tips on building a business case to get your study funded.

Explain the benefits to your employer

Use the course brochure to support your case. Explain how having a qualified team member has the following benefits for employers:

  • A team member who is knowledgeable as well as skilled
  • Someone who is confident to make decisions and equipped to operate more strategically
  • A motivated member of the team
  • Introduction of fresh insights and the latest thinking

In addition, for many of our courses, the assignment is focused on a real work situation so is of practical value in the workplace which is great for employers. You can apply what you learn straight away.

Studying for a qualification gives you deep level learning which you don’t get with training. You will be learning over a period of time and that enables you to get to grips with new concepts and models and learn how to apply them in your own situation.

We apply the theory to practice

Hear from Caroline about the practical aspects of our qualifications.

The CIPR Professional Diploma course has been hugely beneficial to me for CPD and also in terms of my day-to-day work and strategic input into the organisation I work for. The learnings and insights have helped me to further establish communications at the core of the business and the communications role and remit has been expanded to involve all sorts of projects.
