I’ve been working directly in public relations for just over a decade and the Professional PR Diploma was a way of formalising that relationship. I wanted to show myself the value that public relations can bring to strategic decision-making in big organisations and that PR practitioners have the skills and experiences to earn a seat at the top table.

The course provides an excellent and detailed view of PR strategy and planning, content and communications, and measurement and evaluation, the latter of which is a big area of interest to me. Very early on in my studies, I decided to tie my assignments to my day-to-day responsibilities with work and to give them practical meaning and use. The fact that some of the concepts and suggestions that emerged from my studies are now being implemented within our team is a sign that the qualification can have a practical impact on your day-to-day job.

Going forward, I hope the qualification will give me greater confidence in my own abilities, while demonstrating my continued development to growing and advancing my career at a senior level.
